In short: Meridian is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission — at no additional cost to you. Commissions never influence our ratings, rankings or verdicts.

1. Our affiliate programs

Meridian ("we", "us", "our") participates in the following affiliate marketing programs, which allow us to earn commissions by linking to products on partner retailers' websites:

2. How affiliate links work

An affiliate link is a standard web link that contains a unique tracking code identifying Meridian as the referrer. When you click one of these links and complete a qualifying purchase on the retailer's website, the retailer — through its affiliate network — pays us a percentage of the sale or a fixed fee.

Affiliate links on Meridian commonly appear as:

• Buttons such as "Check price", "Shop now" or "Check on Amazon";
• Linked product names, images or brand names within reviews and guides;
• Links in our newsletter, "The Meridian Letter" (excluding Amazon, whose affiliate links we do not use in email).

Affiliate links on our site are marked in their code with rel="sponsored", in line with search-engine guidelines for paid links.

3. No extra cost to you

Using our affiliate links does not increase the price you pay. The commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin. In some cases, partners offer our readers exclusive discounts; where that is so, we say so clearly.

You are never obliged to use our links. You can always visit any retailer directly.

4. Affiliate cookies

To attribute a sale to Meridian, affiliate networks and retailers place a small text file — a cookie — in your browser when you click an affiliate link. The cookie typically records:

• That you arrived from Meridian (our affiliate ID);
• The date and time of your click;
• Whether a qualifying purchase followed within the cookie's validity window.

Cookie duration is set by each retailer or network, not by us, and usually ranges from 24 hours to 30 days or more. These cookies are placed on the retailer's or network's domain, and their use is governed by that party's own privacy policy.

Managing affiliate cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, or decline non-essential cookies through our cookie preferences. Doing so will not affect the price you pay; it simply means we may not receive credit for the referral. For more detail, see our Privacy Policy.

5. Editorial independence

Our income depends on your trust, so we protect it deliberately:

• No paid rankings. Brands and retailers cannot pay for a review, a higher score, a badge or a place in our Editor's Picks.
• Commission-blind verdicts. Commission rates are not considered when we rate or rank a watch. We recommend products without any affiliate relationship when they deserve it.
• Transparent sourcing. Each review states whether the watch was purchased by us, loaned by a brand, or provided free of charge.
• Honest criticism. We publish negative findings — including about products from retailers we partner with.

6. FTC compliance

This disclosure is made in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255). Consistent with those Guides:

• We disclose our material connection with retailers clearly and conspicuously, including near affiliate links within our content;
• Our reviews reflect the honest opinions, findings and experiences of our editors;
• Where a product was provided free of charge or on loan, we disclose it within the relevant review;
• We do not make claims about a product that we could not substantiate through our own testing or reliable sources.

7. Amazon Associates

Meridian is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

In line with the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement:

• Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date and time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply to the purchase of the product.
• We do not display static Amazon prices on our pages; we show general price ranges and link you to Amazon for the current price.
• Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
